My Pal Satan

My Pal Satan

What do you get when you pair up a conservative single yuppie with well… Satan? This is not the beginning of a joke but the concept of the new web comedy series from “Fido” co-writer Dennis Heaton, director Vivieno Caldinelli and producer Bryce Mitchell. Produced through the CFC Pilot Program, the series gives audiences short episodes dramatizing the crazy antics of these two tempestuous roomies.

Heaton applies the same genre satirization of “Fido” to this new series. The treasured 1980’s American sitcom takes the brunt of the jokes here. Remember the wholesome sappiness of “Perfect Strangers”, or the absurd antics of “Mork & Mindy”? Heaton skewers the same ridiculous overtooled high concept idea-generators of that gaudy decade.

The opening credit sequences is spot-on, giving us the kind of syrupy pop theme song which unfortunately has the power to stick to your brain like cancer. The animated still frames showing the two leads, Jefferson Brown and Rachel Wilson has all the same ironic humour.

The webseries of 3-6mins each is a fresh and punchy format, just enough to satisfy the urge to laugh on a depressing Monday morning.

New episodes go online every Monday over the next five weeks. Visit: www.mypalsatan.com to see the first two episodes already available.
